When you think of student-friendly Brussels, Judit Karlsson undoubtedly comes to mind. Between 2001 and 2006, she studied law at the VUB, but just as importantly, she fully embraced the vibrant student life. As president of KBS (2005-2006), cantor of 't Vat, and later president of the Guild of Polytech, she brought color and energy to generations of students. Even after her studies, Judit remained true to tradition: for years, she helped organize the Vrijzinnig Zangfeest Vlaanderen (Free-thinking Singing Festival of Flanders) and still regularly performs with the "Ouwe Zakken" (Old Bags) at that same Singing Festival.
According to Judit, student spirit is more than just folklore. It's an attitude toward life that revolves around solidarity and connection—not just with your friends next to you in the pub, but also with people on the other side of the world. "Folklore is inherently humanistic and international," she says.
A benefit concert for Doctors Without Borders
On Sunday, September 7, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Judit invites everyone to the sunny terrace of the Maison de l'Union des Anciens Étudiants (UAE, ULB Plein campus) for a special concert. All proceeds will go to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), an organization Judit has supported for years.
The choice for AZG was deliberate: it is one of the few humanitarian organizations still active in Sudan and Congo, where millions of people suffer in silence from famine and violence. Sudan is currently the world's largest humanitarian crisis, yet it rarely makes the news. With this benefit, Judit wants to not only raise funds but also draw attention to these forgotten tragedies.
World-class music
The concert is enhanced by top Belgian musician Jacques Stotzem. This internationally renowned guitarist is undoubtedly one of the best of his generation. His repertoire is exceptionally diverse: from rock & roll to classical music, from medieval melodies to pop and oriental sounds. His warm charisma and unique connection with the audience make every performance unforgettable.
In short: a unique opportunity to experience a fantastic evening and at the same time contribute to a better world.
