Our vision and mission
The OSB-VUB is an interdisciplinary, participatory network that unites (former) students and supporters around the values of independent inquiry and liberal humanism. It offers its members the opportunity to develop themselves.
Through our activities we form a unifying force within the VUB community and an ambassador of these values.
By integrating our values into our policies and activities, we create a strong and supportive alumni community that contributes to the continued growth and success of both our members and the Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
Based on the values of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) and as a member association of deMens.nu, our values can be formulated as follows:
Free Inquiry: We promote a culture of free inquiry and critical reflection, encouraging people to ask questions and share knowledge without prejudice.
Democracy and Participation: We encourage active participation and democratic decision-making in everything we do, of which freedom of expression and freedom of thought are essential pillars.
Social Justice: We are committed to social justice and equality. Diversity and inclusion are core values in all our activities.
Tolerance and Respect: As a non-dogmatic association, we promote tolerance and respect for different views, cultures, and backgrounds. Our activities and interactions are designed to foster a respectful and inclusive environment.
Responsibility and Sustainability: We take responsibility for our impact on society and the environment. Sustainability is a constant focus for us.
Innovation and progress-oriented: We focus on new ideas and solutions to societal challenges. We promote a culture of lifelong learning and personal growth.
Interdisciplinarity and Collaboration: We value collaboration and exchange between different disciplines and fields.
