What you struggle to express, yet still want to express, finds its own way. A musician plays it, a theater maker creates it, and a poet writes poetry. As the sister of a poet struggling with psychosis, Isabelle Decraene, a violinist, sought a way to respectfully address the questions, frustrations, prejudices, clichés, and platitudes that accompany that diagnosis and the journey to it.
She wanted to create a performance about "such a person" as a child in a family, as a man, as a brother. His relationship as a poet with his surroundings. His writings as an outlet, but also an inlet and a refuge.
Together with her co-stars Jan Fonteyn and Dirk De Strooper, they spent considerable time kneading the dense clay of anecdotes, experiences, and accumulated knowledge. Pleun van Engelen turned that literary clay into an elegant piece. At…
