How free do you think you are?

In Flanders, as in several European countries, we have long observed a trend of polarization between diverse population groups being exacerbated by various societal actors. This is fueling public debate by focusing on "potential" threats to one's own prosperity, safety, or physical integrity. This is happening against a backdrop of one crisis following another, from the coronavirus crisis and asylum and migration crises to gas and electricity crises.

Moreover, the fact that citizens are constantly bombarded with news reports whose fakeness is hard to discern, and who can barely see the forest for the trees in the news and social media, creates an atmosphere of widespread distrust. All of this contributes to a society where jealousy, hatred, and envy seem to thrive.

That's why we want to change that with this event, where connection is central. We want to encourage people to think critically and challenge themselves.
