This walk takes you through the history of the oldest working-class neighbourhood in Brussels.
Between the Halle Gate and the now-defunct Volkshuis (People's House), you'll learn more about the city, Brussels' "zwanze" (the "streets") and "aa met," the persecution of the Jews, and the importance of education and architecture. We'll meet Jacob Kats, Herman Teirlinck, and Victor Horta, and we'll search for Brueghel.
Practical:
We meet at 1:30 pm at Hallepoort, the walk starts at 2 pm (duration = 3 hours).
Brussels Behind the Scenes is an organisation of HuisvandeMens Brussels, the VUB Alumni Association and the Willemsfonds Brussels Capital Region.
