OSB-VUB Mechelen is the Mechelen branch of the Alumni Association of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The association strengthens the ties between alumni in the Mechelen region and organizes various activities to bring alumni and sympathizers together. In addition, the branch maintains close collaborations with organizations such as the Humanist Association Mechelen, People & Science and the Freethinking Student Circle Mechelen (VSKM).

The Humanist Association Mechelen works to promote free thinking, freedom of will and self-determination. The collaboration between OSB-VUB Mechelen and the Humanist Association strengthens the liberal and humanist values within the region.

People & Science adds a scientific dimension by organizing activities that promote the dialogue between science and society.

VSKM, the oldest regional student association of the VUB, founded in 1922, shares the mission of OSB-VUB Mechelen to create a close-knit community in which students and alumni remain connected.

A nice initiative of OSB-VUB Mechelen was the first VK-cup, organized on April 15, 2023 in the Atheneum Pitzemburg. This general knowledge quiz, for the benefit of the Brussels University Consultation Center (BRUCC), emphasized the local involvement and commitment of the department. Although the organization of the 2024 edition was in the hands of OSB-VUB Geuzenheuvels, this event remains an example of the impact that OSB-VUB Mechelen has.

OSB-VUB Mechelen is also actively involved in major local initiatives such as Maanrock, where they were present in August 2024 in the Vrijzinnig Centrum De Schakel, near the Main Stage.

Together with partners such as the Humanist Association, People & Science and VSKM, they contribute to a varied programme that combines social, cultural and scientific activities.

With these collaborations, OSB-VUB Mechelen offers a platform that brings together alumni, supporters and the broader Mechelen community, with liberal and humanist values at its core.
