About Nom de Dieu
The exhibition Nom de Dieu: critique, blasphemy, satire...? in Pilar brings together works by renowned Belgian artists such as Félicien Rops, Wim Delvoye, Pjeroo Roobjee, Axel Daeseleire and Carmen De Vos. This exhibition examines how artists deal with themes such as critique, blasphemy and satire in relation to Christian iconography.
Curators Kathleen Van Nuffel and em. prof. dr. Willem Elias show with this exhibition how art gives freethinkers a voice and makes taboos discussable. The title, a nod to the Flemish expletive nondedju, perfectly sums up the multi-layeredness and openness of the exhibition: art invites us to look and think with a critical eye.
This evening is made possible thanks to the support of: the VUB Rectorate, Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels (EhB), University Association Brussels (UAB), Humanist Association (HV) and VUB Alumni Association (OSB-VUB).
